Staff
Adam Griggs is the Founder and Principle of WSS and has spent the last two decades supporting clean water efforts locally, regionally, and nationally. Adam’s background in aquatic ecology and community science led to a unique career as a connector, integrator, and champion of coordinated watershed restoration efforts, developing science based tools to support watershed assessment and advocating for greater partnership and coordination between regulatory and community organizations.
Adam began his career with the Interstate Commission on the Potomac River Basin where he spent 9 years supporting the state and federal partners coordinating science-based restoration work under the Chesapeake Bay Program, delivering primary research on watershed assessment, method and indicator development, stressor identification/response, and trend analyses.
In 2015, Adam joined River Network where he developed their new science program and pioneered the formation of the Water Data Collaborative, a unique partnership of national clean water nonprofits, federal and academic data partners, and water data experts, designed to help build frameworks for better inclusion of community generated watershed science data nationally.
In 2020, Adam joined the Water Data Integration Branch within the US EPA’s Office of Water, where he worked on many of the agency’s premier public water data information systems. Adam served as lead for the Interagency Water Quality Portal, led User Support for Water Quality eXchange, was the Tribal Water Data Support Lead, and supported How’s My Waterway, TADA, NARS, and agency HAB data efforts, among others.
